Lake Tana: Source of the Blue Nile, And Mosquitoes.

In most countries I’ve visited, people out running for exercise are watched like naked imbeciles escaped from an institution. This morning though I left my hotel at 4am to catch a long-distance bus and caught numerous world-class runners out for their morning stroll. An inspiring sight before a ten-hour bus ride.

But that was this morning. I arrived into Bahir Dar shortly before dusk and snapped a few street photos such as the above. So far, the town is a little uninspiring. I’ve stared out at Lake Tana and tried to take it in deeply, but maybe I’m just too tired for that. And malaria is endemic here, and the mosquitoes are tedious accompaniment I must confess.
