Rather than redundantly write about my own experience today, I’ll defer to my friends’ Sasha and Josh’s blog entry on it. On the last Saturday of every month, Rwandans engage in compulsory community service, called Umuganda (“contribution”), which has been in practice since long before the ’94 genocide, but still seems like a nice idea. I suppose.
I don’t know how the hell a country gets over genocide, but I was glad I could participate in Umaganda this morning.
